Give your puppy the best start

Welcome Bay Vets offer regular Puppy Preschool classes for puppies aged 7-14 weeks. Our 3-week course is usually held on Tuesday nights from 6:15pm to 8:00pm. For more information or to book your spot contact us.

Puppies experience an important window of learning between approximately 3-14 weeks of age. During this window of development, puppies learn to accept other animals, people, noises and experiences, and if 'puppy socialisation' is done right during this period they grow into well-adjusted, calm dogs. Many behavioural problems in adult dogs could have been prevented with proper socialisation as a puppy.

Our Puppy Preschool provides:

Socialisation: Help puppies interact with adults, children, and other dogs to prevent behavioural problems later in life. We encourage confident, relaxed puppies that respect people and other dogs.
Understanding Behaviour: We teach you about normal dog behaviours and how to recognise and avoid early behavioural problems.
Exposure: Introduce puppies to different experiences and noises such as thunder and fireworks so they become well-adapted and make pleasurable pets.
Basic Obedience: Teaching commands such as “come,” “sit,” “drop,” and “stay.”
Training Tips: Learn how to toilet train puppies and manage mouthing, jumping up, chewing furniture, timidness, and aggression.

Upon completing the course, your puppy will receive a graduation pack, including a flea treatment, food vouchers, and other goodies. One of the biggest benefits we see is a dog who can’t wait to get into the clinic, as opposed to a dog that is fearful and dreads vet-visits.

Requirements:

Puppies must have had at least their first vaccination and be following a vaccination programme.
Children are welcome to attend, though younger children may find it challenging to concentrate for the entire duration.
