Pet Vaccinations, Microchipping & Annual Health Checks

Keeping your pet healthy starts with regular check-ups and preventative care.

We know that not every pet enjoys visiting the vet, and that's okay. Our caring team takes the time to make every visit as calm and positive as possible.

If your pet feels particularly anxious or nervous, give us a call before your appointment. We'd be happy to chat about ways we can help reduce their stress and make the experience more comfortable for everyone.

Annual Health Checks

Our pets age much faster than we do. Regular check-ups allow us to pick up changes early, often before they become more serious, helping your pet enjoy a longer, healthier life.

During an annual health check, we'll assess your pet's overall health, discuss any changes you've noticed at home, administer vaccinations and other treatments, and provide personalized advice on topics such as:

  • Nutrition and diet

  • Weight management

  • Flea, worm and parasite prevention

  • Mobility and ageing

  • Behaviour and lifestyle

Pet Vaccinations

Vaccinations are one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your pet from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases, including canine parvovirus and feline panleukopaenia.

  • Puppies and kittens require a primary course of 2 - 3 vaccines given a month apart. Contact us for more details.

  • Adult pets will have their vaccinations completed at their Annual Health Check.

  • Remember to bring your pet's Vaccination Book!

Microchipping

A microchip is a tiny device, smaller than a grain of rice, implanted under your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. It contains a unique 15-digit number that can be scanned by vet clinics and animal shelters. We use microchips that also read body temperature, avoiding unpleasant thermometer experiences for our lucky pets.

At Welcome Bay Vets, we can help register your pet with the New Zealand Companion Animal Register (NZCAR), linking their microchip number to your contact details so you can be reunited if they go missing.

Microchipping is a legal requirement in New Zealand for all dogs within two months of registration (excluding farm dogs used solely for stock control).
