For over 40 years, Welcome Bay Vet Clinic has been proudly caring for the pets of Welcome Bay and the surrounding communities.
Established in 1986 and family-owned ever since, we've built a reputation for providing compassionate veterinary care in a warm, welcoming environment.
In 2024, Dr Hannah Bain and her husband Darren took over ownership, with long-time friend Sarah Wilson joining as partner/shareholder and Head Nurse, continuing the clinic's strong local roots and commitment to supporting pets and their families.
From our iconic roadside signs to the much-loved Christmas Light Display, we're proud to be a longstanding part of the Welcome Bay community while delivering modern veterinary care you can trust.
Our Team
Dr Hannah Bain
“The best part of my job is helping sick pets get back home to their families.”
Hannah graduated from Massey University, Palmerston North, in 2009. She enjoys the wide variety of cases we see at Welcome Bay Vets, especially managing chronic medical cases and chemotherapy patients.
Hannah and her husband Darren own Welcome Bay Vets, and live locally on a lifestyle block with their two boys and a large variety of animals.
Dr Nicole Brown
“Being a vet is so much more than 'just a job', it’s a passion that I have had since a child.”
Nicole graduated from veterinary school in Hanover, Germany, before moving to New Zealand. Nicole has a special interest in surgery and is passionate about providing the highest standard of care for her patients.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and their dog Luna.
Dr Julie McCarthy
“Growing up on a farm, I decided very early that I wanted to be a vet."
Julie graduated from University College Dublin in 1992 and worked in mixed animal practice in Ireland and the UK before moving permanently to New Zealand in 1999. Julie enjoys the challenge of difficult cases, and loves making a difference to animals and their owners.
Julie and her husband live locally, and have two adult daughters.
Dr Sue Reid
“I have been at Welcome Bay Vets since 2016 and feel so lucky to be part of a team who do the best they can for our patients and their owners, and also for each other.”
Sue is a Massey University graduate with extensive medical and surgical experience. She lives with her husband Mark and their wonderful cat
When not at work, Sue can usually be found out on her bike making the most of all the great cycle trails in the area, or spending time with her very busy grandchildren.
Dr Rachel Petty
"Growing up in a pet-filled home in Thames, I always knew I wanted to be a vet."
Rachel graduated from Massey University in 2013 and brings a thorough clinical approach, empathy, and a wealth of emergency vet experience to Welcome Bay Vets.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys hiking, biking, trail running, and gardening. She shares her home with her husband and young family, Daisy the cat, and three cheeky chooks.
Dr Aimii Pascoe
"I feel incredibly fortunate to do a job I truly love. Working with animals and their owners to achieve the best possible outcome is both rewarding and fulfilling."
Aimii graduated from Massey University in 2013, and is passionate about providing compassionate, high-quality care to her patients.
Aimii lives with her two kids, husband, and rescue dog Orca. She loves spending time outdoors, travelling, and making memories with her family - and escapes to her island home of Rarotonga (especially to escape cold, as she is not a fan!).
